Child Find Services

Does your child need our services?

The Hamblen County School System has a duty to locate, evaluate, and identify any child residing in the district, whether attending public school or not, who qualifies for IDEA special education services or Section 504 ADA accommodations or services.

Children with disabilities eligible for IDEA special education include those children, ages 3 through 22, who have autism, deaf-blindness, developmental delay, emotional/behavioral disability, hearing impairment, intellectual disability, multiple disabilities, orthopedic impairment, other health impairment, specific learning disability, speech or language impairment, traumatic brain injury, visual impairment, or functional delay who, because of such an impairment, need special education services.

If you suspect your child has one of the above-mentioned disabilities or are aware of a child that may require special education services, please contact Leigh Ann Mills, HCBOE Child Find Coordinator, at 581-3067.

Children eligible for Section 504 accommodations or services include those children who have a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits a major life activity.

If you suspect your child has a disability or are aware of a child with a disability who may require 504 services, please contact Amy Mitchell, HCBOE Section 504 Coordinator, at 581-3067.
