The German Society at Morristown-Hamblen High School East is planning a historical project. Students did not only learn about the Holocaust in class, but also successfully began and maintained a tradition by keeping history alive, creating an annual Holocaust Remembrance Program. This year’s program is entitled InVoices of Memory. Now in its 10th year, students are prepared to take the next step, heeding the call to action, undertaking the monumental attempt to collect 6 million pennies to recognize and remember the 6 million Jewish victims murdered during the Shoah. The pennies collected shall be a symbol and a tribute to the innocent souls who were murdered and to the people who survived the Holocaust and contributed the rest of their lives to improving our communities. All monies collected will be donated.
