Cop Sued After Asking Woman Out 2/6/2012

On Oct. 22 in Stickney, a village southwest of Chicago, a cop pulled Evangelina Paredes over for speeding. The cop, Chris Collins, issued her a $132 speeding ticket. Collins used the ticked to track down the woman two days later to ask her out on a date.

Evangelina Paredes filed a lawsuit against Collins, for she felt that her privacy had been violated. He used the ticket to access her personal information and find her address. He left a note on her windshield two days later outside of her apartment.

A copy of the note was attached to the lawsuit. The note started, “It’s Chris…that ugly bald guy Stickney cop who gave you that ticket. I know this may seem crazy and you’re probably right, but truth is I have not stopped thinking about you since.” The letter continues, “I don’t expect a girl as attractive as you to even go for a guy like me, but I’m taking a shot anyways.” At the end of the letter, he stated, “I did cost you $132 – least I can do is buy you dinner.”
